Am I A Candidate for Laser Liposuction?

Am I A Candidate for Laser Liposuction?

Do you have pockets of unwanted fat, despite your efforts to exercise and eat well? Laser liposuction with the Sciton ProLipo® laser offers a minimally invasive way to contour these bulging areas and get you a super sleek frame.

The ProLipo system delivers laser energy via thin fibers to predetermined treatment areas. The heat melts fat, which is then removed via a small tube and tightens the skin to give you an enviable physique. Laser lipo can be effective on the hips, abdomen, thighs, knees, face, back, and neck.

Yaqub Baraki, M.D and the rest of us here at Lansdowne Aesthetic Center offer laser liposuction to help you get rid of that unwanted fat. Although we want to help everyone, not all people are candidates for laser liposuction.

Here’s what makes you eligible for this amazing, effective fat-reducing procedure.

You should be a healthy weight

A healthy weight doesn’t mean model-thin. The procedure is most effective when you’re within about 20 pounds of your ideal body weight. Laser liposuction is effective on small pockets of fat. It isn’t designed to promote comprehensive weight loss.

Your skin is moderately saggy

Laser liposuction effectively tightens moderately loose skin. If you have large bands of loose skin, from weight-loss surgery or rapid, extreme dieting, laser liposuction may not offer enough tightening power.

You are in generally good health

We do a thorough medical review prior to recommending laser liposuction. If you have underlying health conditions, laser liposuction may pose unwanted risks.

You have realistic expectations

Dr. Baraki goes over what you can expect before, during, and after the procedure. He is also honest with what the procedure can, and can’t, do for your body’s contour.

You’re willing to wait a few months to see optimal results

Although you’ll notice some changes right after your laser liposuction procedure, your body’s look continues to improve over three to six months. It takes time for your system to flush out all swelling and produce the collagen and elastin required to tighten up slack skin.

You’re committed to a healthy lifestyle

Although the results of laser liposuction are permanent — the fat that’s removed cannot replump or regenerate — you can still gain weight in other areas. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise and smart eating helps you keep up the sleek contours achieved with laser liposuction.

The laser liposuction sessions are relatively short, taking just 45-60 minutes per treatment area. Usually, you only need one session to get the results you want. Laser liposuction is also far less invasive than traditional liposuction. This means you need minimal recovery time.

Most patients take a day or two off after their laser liposuction procedure, but can return to sedentary jobs almost right away. Some patients are able to add in regular activity and exercise within a week or two.
